about

Hey-

Virtue here, founder and member of independent collective Fameless Fam. We are an eclectic mashup of energetic do-it-all-ourselves musicians. We write, produce/mix/master, distribute, and tour for the sake of music. We are wave-makers and heartstring-yankers eliciting confusion from the 30+ crowd.

Recently, I have been performing with your iTunes playlist: from indie buzz bands Sleigh Bells and Matt and Kim to hip-hop stalwarts like R.A the Rugged Man and Anti-Pop Consortium, as well as having toured with Rhymesayers’ artist Abstract Rude. Behind each show, collaboration and tour is a story and an unforgettable experience. (i.e. weirding out A.G. in my basement, smoking with OFWGKTA’s Left Brain and Mike G in my bedroom, or chauffeuring Slug around Calgary.)

Of course, this has been about me since my DJ, Emoh Betta, already has a bio published which I cannot quote due to copyright reasons. However, you can find it in the autobiographical section of most book retailers.

July 5th, 2011 marks the release of Emoh and I’s album, Following Wild- a symphonic maze of exploits and adventures. From the cautionary tale “WOODS” of an animal-abusing child, to the stringing twang of “WIRES,” an ode to modern amenities, the album travels from traditional to experimental, fresh to forgotten, minimal to maximum and urban to wild.

Following Wild is partially about the battle to balance our primal and organic tendencies with the overlayed expectations and culture of the civilized world. (It’s also about morning sex, road trips, the act of shaving and staying undomesticated.) The music’s about the grit under your fingernails, the bones beneath the asphalt, and the text messages we don’t show each other.

The album features numerous talented homies: youtube sensation and acclaimed poet George Watsky, Boston Phoenix 2011 Best Video winners Time Crisis; partyboobytrap brethren Exquisite Corpse and DJ Emoh Betta, plus FRKSE, JotsOne and the elusive Papa Bakes. Skylar Sarkis of Such Gold and James Carroll of Make Do and Mend show up for the story, as do a laundry list of great producers including: Falside, Ryan Stinson, Dynamo414, and EJ3 Robot.
